Ingredients

Serves 4

  • Whole urad dal 200 grams

  • Salt 1 tsp or as per taste

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

  • Garam masala 1 teaspoon

  • Onion 2 Chopped finely

  • Whole red chillies 2

  • Garlic cloves 8

  • Ginger 1 inch piece

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Ghee 2

  • Milk 1/2 cup

  • Bay leaf 2

  • Hing 2 pinches

  • Jeera 1 teaspoon

Directions

    soak urad dal for 20 to 30 minutes

  • 02

    in a pressure cooker add the dal

  • 03

    Add salt turmeric powder 1 onion and crushed Ginger and garlic

  • 04

    Add adequate water

  • 05

    Cook for 6 whistles

  • 06

    Let the pressure release itself

  • 07

    Cook on slow flame for 15 minutes

    Add in the milk

  • 09

    Simmer on low flame for another 5 minutes

    In another pan heat oil

    Add jeera

  • 12

    Add bay leaf

    Add hing

    Add remaining onion

    Saute till golden

    Add in green chillies

    Add in the red chilli powder

    Add garam masala

    Add some water

    Let the masala cook

    Add in the dal

    Simmer for another 10 mins

    Add ghee on top

    Add cream if desired

    Serve with naan
