Ingredients

Serves : 5
  • For dough - 1 cup wholewheat flour


  • 1 tsp salt or as per taste


  • about 1 cup water


  • For stuffing - 1 cup chana dal soaked for about 4 hours


  • ginger 1 inch small piece


  • 2-3 nos . garlic cloves


  • 2 nos. small green chillies


  • 1 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1 tsp garam masala powder


  • salt 1 tsp or as per taste


  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves


  • For tempering - 1 tbsp oil


  • 5-6 nos. curry leaves


  • 2 tsp cumin seeds


  • 1 tsp seasme seeds

Directions

  • First for dough - in a big bowl take whole wheat flour , then add salt and mix well . Now make a soft dough by using water . Cover it and keep it aside .
  • For stuffing - take soaked chana dal . Wash and drain it .
  • Now in a grinder , take soaked chana dal , add garlic cloves , ginger ,cumin seeds and green chilles and grind it coarsely.
  • Now in this coarse grinded dal , add coriander leaves ,garam masala powder ,turmeric powder and salt as per taste . Mix all ingredients well . Stuffing is ready . Keep this aside .
  • Now take dough and make equal small lemon size balls with it. Now take a ball and roll it with roller pin , make a disk shape .Now put 1 tbsp stuffing on it .
  • Now fold it and make semi circle . Repeat this process with remaining balls . Faras are ready to boil.
  • Now in a wide pot add water , when water starts boiling ,add 1 tsp salt . Now add faras into this water and cook until they starts coming up .
  • Now take out these bolied faras and let them cool down . Now cut them into small pieces .
  • For tempering - in a pan add 2 tsp oil ,add cumin seeds and seasme seeds ,when seeds starts crackle then add curry leaves . Now add faras and cook for about 5 minutes . Faras are ready to serve . Serve hot with green chutney .
