Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • Palak 2 Bunches


  • Shallots 100 gms


  • green chillies 5


  • Curry leave 1 twig


  • Oil 20 ml


  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon


  • Jeera 1 teaspoon


  • Asafoetida 1/4 teaspoon


  • Milk with cream (பாலேடு) 100 ml


  • Salt 1 teaspoon

Directions

  • Wash the palak well and add into a handi
  • On cooking it starts leaving water
  • In a kadai heat oil and add mustard seeds, chopped shallots,green chillies, jeera,curry leaves,asafoetida and saute well
  • Add this tempering to the palak getting cooked . add salt
  • Cook till water is evaporared and then mash with mathu(மத்து)
  • Finally add the milk with cream and stir well
  • Serve with hot steamed rice.
  • Tastes wonderful on a rainy day
