Ingredients
Serves 4
Thuvar Dal 1 cups
Drumstick 1 nos
tomato 3 nos
onion 1 nos
Mango 1 nos
Tamarind Juice 1/2 cups
For Grinding: Coconut 1 cups
Red Chillies 5 nos
Asafoetida,small bit 1 nos
Cumin Sedds 1 tbsp
Pepper 1 tsp
Curry Leaves 8 nos
Oil for frying and tempering 2 tbsp
Salt 2 tsp
turmeric powder 1 tsp
Gram dhal 2 tsp
Directions
Boil thuvar dhal with turmeric powder, sufficient water in a cooker and keep it aside.
Put a vessel on the stove and add all cut vegetables with water and tamarind juice and add turmeric powder and salt taste.
Put a pan on the stove and add little oil and add gram dhal, chillies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, pepper, asafoetida ,curry leaves 4 fry them and remove from fire. Again add little oil and fry coconut scrappers and fry till golden brown. Remove from fire.
Bring it to room temperature and grind it to a smooth paste.
When the vegetables are tender add the masala paste , sufficient water and salt.
Let it boil for 5 minutes and then add the mashed tuvar dhal and check the consistency.
Boil it for 4 minutes and remove from fire.
Temper with oil ,mustard, chilly, curry leaves and add to the gravy.
Serve with rice, hot idli or dosa.
