Ingredients

Serves 4

  • boneless chicken pieces 500 gms

  • Bengal gram 100 gms

  • Split Red gram/Lentil 100 gms

  • Green Gram 100 gms

  • Salt 1 1/2 tsp

  • Ginger-Garlic Paste 2 tbsp

  • Dhanshak Masala 4 tbsp

  • Onion Chopped 1 nos

  • Tomatoes Chopped 2 nos

  • Potatoes, Deskinned and Cubed 2 nos

  • Peeled and Cubed Red Pumpkin 100 gms

  • chopped brinjal 100 gms

  • Fenugreek Leaves 2 tbsp

  • Cooking Oil 4 tbsp

Directions

    Soak the lentils in adequate water 2 hours prior to cooking and wash the chopped veggies

    Heat 2 tbspn oil in a pan and add the onions

  • 03

    Add the ginger garlic paste and dhanshak masala

  • 04

    Sauté on medium heat until onions are slightly softened and brown. Take off heat

  • 05

    Now heat the remaining oil in a pressure cooker

  • 06

    Reduce heat to medium and add the chicken pieces and lentils

  • 07

    Stir for 2 minutes before adding the veggies, salt and sautéed onion

  • 08

    Add 2 cups of hot water and pressure cook until lentils are softened

  • 09

    Then after releasing the steam, open the cooker and mix the contents well

  • 10

    Take off the chicken pieces and mash the remaining contents well

  • 11

    Next add the chicken pieces and give it all a good mix for 2-3 minutes on Low heat

  • 12

    Chicken dhanshak is ready to be served with your favourite accompaniment

    Transfer the curry to a serving bowl and garnish with dry fenugreek leaves
