Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 500 gms for marination:chicken


  • 1/2 cups mint leaves


  • 1/4 cups coriander leaves


  • 3 nos green chillies


  • 1/2 cups yoghurt


  • 1 tsp ginger paste


  • 1 tsp garlic paste


  • 1 tsp coriander powder


  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1 tsp salt or more to taste


  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder


  • 1/4 tsp garam masala powder


  • 1/4 cups chopped onion


  • 2 nos for gravy: finely sliced onions


  • 1 tsp ginger paste


  • 1 tsp garlic paste


  • 1 nos green chilli chopped


  • 1/2 inch cinnamon stick


  • 1 nos black cardamom


  • 3 tbsp ol


  • 2 nos medium tomotoes chopped or pureed


  • 1 tsp coriander powder


  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1 tsp salt or more (adjust to taste)


  • 1/4 tsp garam masala powder

Directions

  • Clean chicken legs and make gashes or cuts for the marinade to penetrate through.
  • Except chicken blend all ingredients as mentioned under marination
  • Mix the marinade into the chicken legs and keep aside for at least two hours.
  • Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan.
  • Add the whole spices and let them crackle
  • Now add the sliced onions and saute till light brown.
  • To this add the tomatoes and saute for a while.
  • Add the spices.
  • To this now add the marinated chicken.
  • Cover and cook on medium flame for 15 minutes.
  • Then reduce flame to low and cook for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Serve hot with rice or rotis
