Ingredients

Serves 4

  • Bittergourds(medium) 2-3 nos

  • Oil 1 1/2 tbsp

  • For stuffing-sliced onion 1 cups

  • Groundnuts 1/2 cups

  • Blackgram 1 tbsp

  • Chilli powder 2 tsp

  • Salt -or as per taste 1 tsp

  • Roasted bengal gram 1/2 cups

  • Lime Juice 1/2 tsp

  • Sesame Seeds 1/2 tsp

  • Green Gram 1 tsp

  • Cumin and Coriander Powder 1/2 tsp

  • turmeric powder 2 pinch

    For stuff preparation : Roast all the 'grams', sesame seeds and ground nuts separately until they turn golden brown.

    Transfer the above mix into a mixie jar and make a coarse powder of it.

    Take a shallow dish. Add the sliced onions, prepared coarse powder, salt, limejuice,chilli powder, turmeric powder,coriander-cumin powder. Mix well and keep aside.

    Take the washed bittergourds, remove the outer surface with the help of a knife so that the outer green portion is made into smaller granules.

    Then cut each medium sized bitter gourd into 3 eqal parts.

    Take each part , remove the core alongwith seeds using a knife.

    Empty all the bitter gourds in the same way.

    Fill each part(pot) with the already prepared powdered stuff.

    Heat oil in a pan. Place the filled bittergourd pots carefully. Then add the already removed core alongwith seeds,and also the outer green portion.

    Cook it on a low-medium flame over 10 to 15 minutes.

    Sprinkle salt and red chilli powder and cook for 5 more minutes.

    Serve with rice/chapati.
