  • 1 kgs chicken legs/ whole chicken pieces

  • 250 gms shallots

  • 4 nos lemon grass stalks

  • 2 sprig curry leaves

  • 5-6 nos chilli padis

  • 5 nos garlic cloves

  • 2 inch ginger peeled

  • 2 nos eggs

  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tbsp coriander powder

  • 1/2 tbsp red chili powder

  • 1 tbsp curry powder

  • 5 tbsp cornflour


  • Wash and clean the chicken pieces well and place them in a bowl
  • Roughly chop the shallots, lemon grass,chilli padis,garlic and ginger
  • Add the chopped ingredients in a blender and blend into a paste without any water
  • Add the blended paste to the chicken
  • Add the dry spices next
  • Beat the eggs and add them next. coat the chicken pieces well with the paste,eggs and spices
  • Finally add the salt, curry leaves and cornflour and coat every chicken piece well
  • Cover and refrigerate for an hour for the chicken to marinate in the flavours
  • Heat enough oil for deep frying and fry the chicken pieces in batches until both sides are crisp and brown
  • Rest the fried chicken on an absorbent paper to drain excess oil
  • Serve hot with chilled yogurt-mint dip. Enjoy!!
