Ingredients

Serves 3

  • Asafoetida 1 pinch

  • dried black-eyed beans 250 gms

  • potatoes 2 nos

  • Turmeric 1/2 tbsp

  • Chilli Powder 1/2 tbsp

  • Water 1 litre

  • Thyme Seed 1/2 tbsp

  • Fenugreek Seed 1/2 tbsp

  • Small Clove Ginger Crushed 1 nos

  • Salt to taste 1 1/2 tbsp

  • Chopped Coriander,to garnish 4 tbsp

  • Oil 4-5 tbsp

  • Masala 1 tbsp

Directions

    Soak black-eyed beans overnight. Drain the water when ready to cook.

    Pour oil into a pressure cooker

  • 03

    Once the oil is hot, fry Thyme seed,fenugreek seed,cumin seed

  • 04

    Add potatoes after a minute

  • 05

    Add soaked black eyed beans

  • 06

    add the masala, ground coriander, chilli and salt and fry for 5-6 minutes, stirring regularly

  • 07

    Once you smell the spicy aroma (1-2 minutes), add 1 litre (4 cups) water

  • 08

    Close pressure cooker lid and wait till 7-8 whistles of pressure cooker

  • 09

    Garnish with coariander chopped and serve hot.
