Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • Mutton pieces 500gram


  • Onions 250 grams peeled and chopped


  • Tomatoes 150 grams chopped or.pureed


  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tablespoon


  • Green chillies 3 to 4 chopped


  • Curd whipped 2 tablespoon


  • Coriander powder 2 teaspoon


  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon


  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon


  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon


  • Salt 1 teaspoon adjust according to taste


  • Bay leaf 1


  • Cinnamon 1/2 inch


  • Black cardamom 1


  • Coriander leaves 1 handful.for garnishing


  • Oil for cooking 3 tablespoon


  • Water 1.5 cup or as needed

Directions

  • In a heavy bottom pan, heat oil and saute dry whole spices- bay leaf, cardamom and cinnamon,
  • Add the chopped onions and saute on medium heat till translucent.
  • Add the mutton pieces, turmeric powder, green chillies and salt.
  • Saute nicely till the mutton is browned. In between add ginger-garlic paste and tomatoes and brown nicely. Also add the remaining dry spice powders and curd except garam masala. Saute well.
  • Add water to the mutton and bring to boil
  • Reduce flame and sprinkle garam masala powder and some chopped coriander leaves. Cover and cook on slow fire for nearly an hour
  • If needed, adjust for gravy consistency using warm water .
  • Serve hot with rotis or rice
