Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 250 gms fresh okras


  • 1 nos tomato


  • 2 tbsp curd whisked


  • 2 tsp mustard seeds


  • 2 nos green chillies


  • 5 nos garlic flakes


  • 1/2 tsp paanch phutana (mix of cumin, mustard, aniseed, fenugreek seeds, nigella seeds)


  • 3 nos curry leaves


  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves chopped


  • 2 tbsp mustard oil


  • 1 cups water


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 3/4 tsp salt

Directions

  • half crush the mustard seeds, green chillies and garlic with little water
  • then add tomato in the mixer and make a paste
  • cut the okras into 1 inch pieces
  • heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and half cook the okras and keep it aside
  • heat 1 tbsp oil in the same pan and add the paanch phutana and curry leaves
  • when it starts spluttering, add the paste and turmeric powder
  • cook the paste for 5 minutes on medium flame
  • then add salt, okras, water and cook the okras in the gravy till fully cooked
  • then add curd and coriander leaves
  • cook for 1 minute
  • switch off the flame and serve hot with steamed rice
