Chocolate Pound Cake With Hidden Heart

Ingredients

Serves : 6
  • 1.5 cups for the hidden heart cake : cake flour


  • 3 nos eggs


  • 3 tbsp milk


  • 1 tsp baking powder


  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


  • 3/4 cups sugar


  • 3/4 cups butter


  • 1/4 tsp pink gel food colour (i have added 1/4 th tsp for the darkness)


  • 1/4 cups for the chocolate pound cake ,cocoa powder


  • 1/4 cups hot boiling water


  • 2 tbsp milk


  • 4 nos eggs


  • 1.5 cups cake flour


  • 1.25 cups sugar


  • 1.5 tsp vanila extract


  • 1 tsp baking powder (for chocolate cake)


  • 1 cups unsalted butter


  • 1/2 tsp salt


  • 90 gms chocolate glaze ,chopped plain chocolate


  • 1 tbsp honey


  • 2 tbsp butter

Directions

  • For the heart cake, Whisk the butter and sugar till very fluffy. Make a mixture of eggs + milk + vanilla extract.
  • Sieve the flour and baking powder, keep aside. Now fold in the egg mixture and flour mix into the butter mixture in 2 parts, that is add half the egg mixture first and then add the flour mixture, followed by egg mix and then flour mix. Add the colour and mix.
  • Pour this mixture into a greased flat tray tin and bake for 35 minutes in a preheated oven at 165℃.
  • Cool and using a heart shaped cookie cutter, cut hearts out of the cake.
  • For the chocolate cake ,Mix the cocoa powder with hot boiling water. Mix well and keep aside to cool it down.
  • Whisk the butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add the eggs one by one and whisk well. Sieve the flour, baking powder and salt together in a separate bowl.
  • Now mix the cocoa mix into the egg Mix, whisk well. Now fold in the flour mix alternating with the milk into the egg Mix.
  • Grease a loaf tin, pour 1/3 rd of the chocolate cake batter into the tin. Now stack the heart shaped cake pieces on the tin.
  • Pour rest of the batter and bake this at 165 degree Celsius, in a preheated oven for 55-60 minutes. Let the cake cool.
  • To make the glaze, heat Chocolate, honey and butter together in a double boiler. Mix well and let this cool for few minutes and pour this over the cake.
  • How to make cake flour : Take 1.5 cups of Maida, remove 3 tbsp of it and add 3 tbsp of cornflour..
