Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 1 nos juice of lemon


  • 1 tbsp toor dal


  • 5 nos garlic pods


  • 1/2 tsp pepper


  • 1/2 tsp jeera


  • 1 nos riped tomato


  • 1 tsp ghee


  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds


  • 1/4 tsp asafoetida


  • 2 nos red chillies


  • 10 nos curry leaves


  • 1 nos coriander leaves,fistful


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

Directions

  • Pressure cook toor dal with 1/2 litre water for 5 whistles and mash well along with the water
  • Crush garlic , pepper and jeera coarsely and add to dal water.
  • Add turmeric and salt
  • Add i finely chopped tomato after crushing with hand.
  • Heat ghee in a tadka pan and add mustardseeds,broken chillies, asafoetida and curry leaves.
  • Add the tempering to the dal water and add finely chopped coriander leaves.
  • Simmer this till froth appears.
  • Switch off and add the lemon juice and stir well
  • Serve hot with steamed rice
