Total Time : 1 Hr 15 Min

Ingredients

Serves : 15
  • 1 kgs carrots shredded

  • 1 litre full fat milk

  • 1/2 cups sugar

  • 1/2 cups condensed milk

  • 1 tsp cardamom powder

  • 1/4 cups almonds blanched and slivered

  • 1/4 cups cashewnuts slivered

  • 1/2 cups desi ghee

  • 1/4 cups fresh cream

  • 1/4 cups homemade mawa

Directions

  • Add shredded carrots and milk to a deep cooking pot.
  • Allow it to cook on a low heat for 15-20 minutes. Keep it covered.
  • After 20 minutes of slow cooking, there will be a slight change in colour.
  • Mix it well and continue cooking for a further 10 minutes on a high heat. Keep stirring in between to avoid it from sticking to the bottom or getting burnt.
  • After about 25-30 minutes of cooking, add the rest of the ingredients one by one and keep stirring it every now and then until it gets cooked nicely and the raw smell vanishes completely. The ghee starts leaving the sides of the cooking pot. At this point garnish with the nuts and let it cool down a bit. Shape into laddus and refrigerate it for an hour or two before serving. Otherwise serve them warm immediately to your family and friends alike.
  • Either way your family and guests will love the delicious gaajar halwa laddus.
