Total Time : 45
Ingredients
Serves 10
broccoli florets 2 cups
onion finely chopped 1/2 cups
mint finely chopped 2 tbsp
coriander finely chopped 2 tbsp
green chillies finely chopped (you can adjust it according to taste) 2-3 nos
cloves of garlic grated 2-3 nos
salt 2 tsp
red chilli powder (you can adjust it according to taste) 1 tsp
roasted cumin powder 1 tsp
chaat masala 1 tsp
black pepper powder 1 tsp
garam masala 1/2 tsp
cup oats grinded (I have used whole grain old fashioned oats) 3/4 cups
potato boiled 1 nos
Directions
Step 1: We will begin with chopping the broccoli into small florets. Now we have to blanch the broccoli and for this take water in a deep pan/kadhai and boil it. When water starts boiling add the broccoli in it and let it cook for 3-4 minutes then sieve it with a help of a siever or colander and then plunge it into iced water or place it under the running cold water for few minutes.
Step 2: Now take blanched broccoli in batches and give it a couple of pulses in the grinder/food processor. It should look like the given picture above. Do not grind it otherwise it can become like a paste.Only pulse it in order to get small small chunks of broccoli. This gives a good texture to the tikki.
Step 3: Add finely chopped onion, mint, coriander, green chilies and grated garlic in it. Mix all the veggies nicely. Now add salt, red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder, black pepper powder, chaat masala and garam masala in it. Give it a good mix.
Step 4: Take oats in a grinder/ blender jar and grind it. It need not be perfectly grinded, few chunks of oats are completely fine. Add it to the veggie mixture and mix it nicely.
Step 5: Now mash the boiled potato and add it to the mixture and combine all the ingredients very nicely. I have not used any water in combining the mixture. If you want to avoid potato, you can add little more oats and little bit of corn flour and bind the mixture.
Step 6: Make small patties / tikki out of the mixture and keep it on a plate. You can make it in any shape and size of your choice.Heat a non stick pan or tawa on medium flame, place the tikkis carefully and drizzle oil on them. Cook on medium flame from both the sides till it turns golden brown in color. It will take around 15-20 minutes. If you are using non stick pan/ tawa then the tikkis can be roasted in very very less oil.
Step 7: Cook on medium heat so that the tikkis become crispy and cooks nicely from inside also. Do not cook on high heat other wise it will not taste so good.Crispy, crunchy and delicious tikkis are ready to be enjoyed. Serve it hot with coriander peanut chutney, kebab dip, ketchup or any sauce of your choice. These tikkis are perfect for diabetic patient as well as they can not eat potato tikki. This is also a good way to make your child eat veggies (just cut down the spices). You can also add little bit cheese for your little one. Do try this friends and please let me know how you like it. Enjoy !!
