Ingredients

Serves : 3
  • 1 cups rice flour


  • 1/2 cups grated coconut


  • 1/4 tsp salt


  • 1/2 cups water


  • 1 cups for kadala curry:black channa


  • 1 nos onion


  • 3 nos tomatoes


  • 1 tsp sambhar powder


  • 1/4 tsp tumeric powder


  • 1/2 tsp salt to taste


  • 1 tsp fennel seed


  • 1/2 tsp mustard seed


  • 3 nos cloves


  • 3 tsp coconut oil


  • 1/4 cups coconut pieces


  • 1/4 tsp fennel seed


  • 1/4 cups coriander leaves for garnishing

Directions

  • Soak black channa overnight for 7 hours.
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker and temper it with mustard seed, fennel seed and cloves. Add chopped onion and saute well.
  • Add tomatoes and saute well till mushy. Add soaked black channa with sambhar powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste.
  • Pressure cook for 20 minutes Grind coconut with fennel seed and make a paste. Add coconut paste to the kadala curry and garnish it with coriander leaves. Kadala curry is ready for Puttu.
  • Boil water with salt as per the taste. Sprinkle salted hot water to the rice flour and mix till its crumbly mixture.
  • Take a puttu maker and fill grated coconut and rice flour alternately and steam for 10 minutes. It's done. Serve Rice Puttu with kadala curry.

  • People with sweet tooth can have with palm sugar and coconut milk
