Ingredients
Serves 2
Poha/flattened rice 1 cups
turmeric powder. 1/4 tsp
lemon sized tamarind (soak in water for 15 minutes) or 1 teaspoon tamarind paste. 1 nos
powdered jaggery. 1 tsp
Sambhar powder or rasam powder. 1 tsp
Oil. 4 tsp
mustard seeds. 1/4 tsp
asafoetida 1/4 tsp
bengal gram dal. 1 tsp
urad dal. 1/2 tsp
red chillies. 2 nos
roasted groundnuts 2-3 tbsp
curry leaves. 1 sprig
Directions
Run the poha or flattened rice over water and drain the water completely and let it aside.
If you are using tamarind syrup then soak the poha in tamarind syrup. If you are using tamarind paste then we can add it while sauting the poha.
In the meantime we will prepare the seasoning.
Heat oil in the kadai and when hot add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds crackle, add asafoetida, bengal gram dal, urad dal and saute till they turn light golden.
Then add roasted groundnuts and curry leaves.
Now add the soaked poha. If you are using tamarind paste you can add it at this stage.
Then add turmeric powder and sambhar powder.
Then add salt and powdered jaggery. Saute for a few minutes.
Now transfer the contents to a serving bowl.
Serve hot with potato chips or papads or vadams or banana chips.
