Description

Chili Soy chunks is a delicious,spicy and vegetarian dish. It is good substitute for chili chicken and chicken Chinese dishes. Soy chunks is made of soy beans and a good substitute of meat. It contains protein, calcium, iron and carbohydrates. If make it dry it can be a good starter or if it is make as gravy dish it can be use as a side dish. Enjoy this healthy dish as you like dry or gravy.

Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 2 cups nutrela soy chunks


  • 1 tbsp onion paste


  • 1 nos onion diced


  • 1 nos bell peppers diced


  • 1 cups tomato puree


  • 2 tbsp chopped green chilies


  • 1 tbsp soy sauce


  • 1 tbsp garlic paste


  • 1 tbsp ginger paste


  • 1 tbsp sugar


  • 1/2 cups besan


  • 1 tsp red chili powder


  • 1 tsp garlic powder


  • 1 tbsp chopped spring onions


  • 1 tbsp salt or as needed


  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil for frying

Directions

  • First boil 4 cups of water in a big pan . Add soy chunks and cook for 5 minutes until it puffed. Then drain to remove excess water.
  • In a bowl add besan, salt, chili powder, garlic powder and water . Make a medium thick paste.
  • Squeeze soy chunks to remove excess water then toss it in besan paste.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan. Then add besan coated soy chunks and fry until light brown. Don't crowd much fry in batches. Drain in a paper towel and keep aside.
  • In a wok/kadai heat vegetable oil, add garlic paste and fry until light brown add onion paste fry for a bit. Add chopped green chilies and tomato puree and fry for 5 minutes, add soy sauce, sugar and salt. Add diced onion and bell peppers.
  • Cook for 5 minutes then add fried soy chunks. Add water as you desire to make it gravy or dry. Let it cook for 10 minutes or bell peppers are cooked. Taste seasoning. Place it in a serving dish and sprinkle chopped spring onion.
  • Enjoy healthy soy chunk dish as a starter or side dish.
