Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 1 cups sliced ash gourd


  • 2 nos green chili


  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder


  • 1 cups buttermilk or curd


  • 2 nos garlic pods


  • 2 nos shallots


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric


  • 1/2 cups grated coconut


  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds


  • 1/4 tsp fenu greek


  • 1/2 tsp mustard


  • 2 sprig curry leaves


  • 2 tsp coconut oil


  • 1 cups water


  • 1 tsp salt as required

Directions

  • Heat the coconut oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds,fenugreek seeds,red chillies and curry leaves. add turmeric powder and salt.
  • Saute until it turns golden brown.Stir it well.
  • Take a pan and add sliced ash gourd or cucumber pieces in 3/4 cup of water. Since ash gourd cooking time is fast, make sure the pieces are not overcooked.
  • Blend grated coconut along with garlic, shallots, cumin seeds and green chillies into a fine paste and mix it well
  • Leave it to simmer in a low flame.
