Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 3 cups thick butter milk


  • 1/2 cups grated coconut- grind with 2 green chilies


  • 1 cups raw bananas-cut into slices


  • 1 tbsp coconut oil


  • 1 tsp black pepper powder


  • 1 cups yam-cut into thins slices


  • 1 pinch salt to taste


  • 1 tsp powdered fenu greek seeds


  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds


  • 1 sprig curry leaves

Directions

  • Wash and peel the raw banana and yam.
  • Cook yam and bananas in butter milk with turmeric powder till they get soft
  • Add grated paste of coconut and salt to it and cook well
  • Add the buttermilk mixture to this along with the black pepper and fenugreek seeds. Mix well.
  • Heat coconut oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves to it and stir for a few minutes.
  • Pour it over the Kalan and garnish with curry leaves.
  • Kalan is ready to be served
