Tuna Ularthiyathu (Tuna Stir Fry)

  • 250 gms canned tuna (i used canned tuna in water)

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 tbsp coconut bits (thenga kothu)

  • 1 nos onion finely chopped

  • 3 nos green chilli chopped

  • 2 tsp ginger chopped

  • 1 nos curry leaves

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • 2 tsp red chilli powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder

  • 1/8 tsp fenugreek powder

  • 1 pinch salt to taste

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil


  • Squeeze out all the water from the canned tuna.
  • Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds.
  • Add coconut bits and fry for few minutes.
  • Add chopped onion and fry till translucent.
  • Add green chilli, ginger, curry leaves and saut? for few minutes.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, black pepper powder, fenugreek powder and fry for few seconds.
  • Add tuna along with enough salt. Mix well and stir fry for 5-6 minutes (To avoid sticking to the bottom drizzle little oil). Cook until it is dry and brown. Remove from the heat.
  • Serve with Roti/Chapati/Rice.
