Description

These are called pathila thoran used mainly in karkadakam , a malayalam month (july- august time period), tender leaves are used for thoran pathila or 10 leafy veggies used here are : thalu- wild colocasia leaves takara- cassia tora sickle pod thazhuthama - spreading hogweed mathan ila- pumpkin leaves payar ila - cow pea leaves chena ila- elphant yam leaves chembu ila- colocasia leaves small ones pacha cheera- green spinach koovalam- ivy gourd leaves choriyanam- tragia involucrate (with reddish stem)

Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 1/4 cups thalu- wild colocasia leaves


  • 1/4 cups takara- cassia tora sickle pod


  • 1/4 cups thazhuthama - spreading hogweed


  • 1/4 cups mathan ila- pumpkin leaves


  • 1/4 cups payar ila - cow pea leaves


  • 1/4 cups chena ila- elphant yam leaves


  • 1/4 cups chembu ila- colocasia leaves small ones


  • 1/4 cups pacha cheera- green spinach


  • 1/4 cups koovalam- ivy gourd leaves


  • 1 cups grated coconut


  • 1/4 cups choriyanam- tragia involucrate (with reddish stem)


  • 1/4 cups shallots chopped


  • 1 tsp jeera


  • 1 tsp mustard seeds


  • 1 tsp raw rice


  • 2 tbsp coconut oil

Directions

  • Grind coconut, jeera in a mixie and keep aside.
  • In a pan , splutter jeera, raw rice and mustard seeds .
  • add chopped shallots, saute for a minute. now add all finely chopped tender greens , add coconut mix saute
  • let it cook and drain excess water (all together it takes less than 5 minutes).
