Tomato Rice (Thakkali Sadam)

Description

Tomato rice is traditional south Indian delicacy. Its very healthy and tasty with a tangy twist of tomatoes.Main advantage is that we don't need any special curry to have it. Lets prepare the spice powder first. Tomato rice tastes best when we add fresh spice mix to it. How to prepare spice powder: Take spice powders red chilly, split bengal gram, urad dal and coriander seeds in a small pan . Turn the heat on low flame and saute. Dry roast till dal turns brown and till you get a nice aroma from coriander seeds. If the dal stays raw, it won't taste good at all. Let them cool completely. Grind them into a fine powder.
