Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 1 cups for chocolate cake-curd/yoghurt


  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour/maida


  • 1 1/8 tsp baking powder


  • 1/4 tsp baking soda


  • 4 tbsp cocoa powder


  • 3/4 cups sugar


  • 1 pinch salt


  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


  • 1/2 cups oil


  • 1 cups for chocolate ganache - heavy cream/fresh cream(approx 200ml)


  • 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips


  • 2 tbsp for soaking the cake - sugar


  • 1/2 cups water


  • 1 tsp instant coffee powder


  • 1 nos for decorating the cake- chocolate wafers packet


  • 15-16 nos small sized hershey's kiss chocolates

Directions

  • Take a deep bowl and add all purpose flour,baking powder, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder. Mix all the ingredients very nicely. Dry ingredients are ready.
  • In another bowl add curd and oil and whisk it till it is mixed nicely.Now add sugar and vanilla extract in it and whisk it till sugar is dissolved properly in the curd and the mixture is smooth in texture. Our wet ingredients are also ready.
  • Now add the dry ingredients in the wet mixture in batches and mix nicely.The batter will be little thick and dense.If it is too thick and dense then add 2-3 tbsp milk in it.
  • Cake batter is ready,it should be smooth in texture,there should not be any lumps in the batter. Pre heat oven for about 10 minutes at 180 degree celsius or 350 degree fahrenheit. Prepare a cake pan (you can use any pan of your choice,I used 8″ by 8″ square cake pan) by greasing and dusting with flour nicely.
  • Pour the batter in the cake pan and tap it well. We tap the tin after pouring the batter so that if there is any air bubbles in the batter,it will escape. Now bake the cake for about 25-30 minutes. After 20 minutes check the cake by inserting a clean knife or tooth pick at multiple places and if it comes out clean this means cake has been baked properly.If not then bake it more for about 5 minutes and then check it again.
  • Take out the cake from the oven safely and let it cool for about 10 mins in the pan and then unmould it on the wire rack and let it cool completely.
  • While the cake is cooling we will prepare our chocolate ganache icing.Take heavy cream/fresh cream in a pan and bring it to boil.Keep the gas on low to medium heat.
  • Take chocolate chips in a deep bowl and when heavy cream starts boiling add it to the chocolate chips and leave it for around 2 minutes. Then with a spoon stir it nicely to mix chocolate and cream together.
  • Chocolate Ganache is ready in a jiff. Let it cool and then we will apply it on the cake.
  • When the cake has completely cooled down, cut the cake horizontally in two halves using a sharp knife. Try to cut into two equal halves or else you can also make two different thin cakes with the same batter and then combine them into a single cake.
  • Take a small bowl and add water, sugar and instant coffee in it.Mix it nicely till sugar and coffee is completely dissolved in it. We will use this mixture to moisten our cake so that it remains moist for a long time.Sprinkle little mixture with your hands all over the surface of the cake. Do this on both the parts of the cake.
  • Now we will start with icing of our cake. Place one half of the cake on a plat or turn table and the pour 4-5 spoon of chocolate ganache on it. Spread it nicely to get even coating on the cake.Now place the other half and then again coat it from all the sides and on top with the ganache.
  • When cake is completely covered with the ganache from all the sides, we will start decorating the cake. Cut the chocolate wafers into the height of the cake and then dip it completely in the chocolate ganache and then place it on the side of the cake.Like this cover all the four sides of the cake.
  • Now top the cake with some Hersheys chocolate and some white chocolate chips as shown in the picture. I have made this cake for my friends daughter so I have written her name on a wafer and placed it in the middle.
  • Delicious Double Chocolate Cake is ready. This cake is too delicious to resist. It can be store in an air tight container in refrigerator for about 4-5 days and just warm it a little bit in microwave before serving.
