Spicy Mutton Cake / Irani Pola

  • 1 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 cups milk

  • 4 nos eggs

  • 1 cups odorless oil

  • 300 gms mutton

  • 2 nos onions(chopped)

  • 2 nos green chilies,(chopped)

  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp garam masala powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper powder

  • 5 nos capsicum slices

  • 5 nos tomato slices

  • 4 tbsp coriander leaves,chopped


  • Pressure cook mutton with little salt and black pepper powder for 15-20 minutes.
  • Once done, remove the bones and cut the meat into small pieces and keep them aside.
  • To prepare the masala filling, heat about 2 tbsp oil in pan.
  • Saute the chopped onions until they turn soft and pink.
  • Then add the chopped green chilies and saute until the raw smell goes off.
  • Now add the ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell goes off.
  • Add turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Now add the mutton pieces and mix well.
  • Then add about 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves and garam masala powder and mix.
  • Cook covered for 2 minutes.
  • Switch the flame off and allow to cool down completely.
  • To prepare the cake batter, blend together the all purpose flour, eggs, milk, oil and little salt very well in a blender/mixer jar.
  • Now grease the pan in which you are going to bake the cake.
  • Pre heat the oven to 180 degree Celsius.
  • Pour half of the batter on the greased pan.
  • Then add the prepared mutton filling. Spread evenly.
  • Then cover with the remaining batter.
  • Place the sliced capsicum, tomatoes and the remaining chopped coriander leaves on top.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool a bit.
  • Slice and enjoy!!
