Total Time : 45 Min

Ingredients

Serves : 6
  • 1 cups for the cake : maida or all purpose flour

  • 50 gms butter ,at room temperature

  • 1/2 cups sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

  • 4 tsp curd

  • 80 ml milk

  • 1 tsp red food colour

  • 1 tsp cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp baking soda

  • 1 cups vanilla buttercream frosting: butter,at room temperature

  • 1 cups confectioners sugar (powdered sugar)

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

Directions

  • For Frosting:Beat together the butter/cream cheese whatever you are using with sugar and vanilla extract for 5-10 minutes to make a creamy mixture. Keep it chilled until you need to use it.
  • For Cake:In a mixing bowl beat together the sugar and curd and stir until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Add butter, vanilla essence, milk, food colour and mix well.
  • Seive in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and mix gently for a smooth and lumps free batter but do not over mix the batter.
  • Grease the cake pan. Preheat the oven @180° for 10 mins.
  • Pour the batter into the greased pan. Tap the pan to even out the batter and bake at 180° for 30 minutes. Mine took exactly 30 mins. Let the cake cool completely.
  • (From the batter I have taken out batter for 2 cupcakes for decorating the cake. Baked in microwave for 1½ mins in full power)
  • Frosting and decorating the cake:Take the completely cool cake. Cut the cake into 2 layers evenly. Apply frosting to one of the layer and add the next layer. Cover the entire cake including the sides with frosting. Cover the sides with red cake crumbs and also add some on top and decorate as you like. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  • Slice and serve. You can store it in the refrigerator.
  • Tips/Notes - For the frosting use Cream Cheese frosting if you can source it or use Vanilla Buttercream. Cream Cheese Frosting:Cream Cheese - 1 cup Confectioners sugar (Powdered Sugar) - 1 cupMilk - 2-3 tsp
