Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 4 nos bittergourd


  • 1 tsp salt


  • 2 tbsp for filling- roasted gram flour


  • 2 tbsp mango pickle masala (khatta masala)


  • 1/8 tsp asafoetida


  • 1/2 tsp salt


  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder


  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1 tbsp coriander powder


  • 1 tsp oil


  • 2 tbsp for cooking:oil


  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves for garnishing

Directions

  • wash the karelas thoroughly and using a knief scrape the skin
  • make a slit in the karelas and sprinkle salt
  • keep aside for 30-45 minutes
  • then squeeze the karela and wash with water
  • squeeze out all the water from karela
  • in a bowl mix all the filling ingrediants, filling is ready
  • stuff the split karelas with the filling
  • heat 2 tbsp oil in a kadhai
  • add karela and cover the pan
  • let it cook for about 5 minutes on low flame
  • turn the karelas over to the uncooked side and cook for 5 more minutes
  • repeat this process until all sides of the karelas are cooked
  • remove the lid and transfer the karelas in a serving plate
  • sprinkle some coriander leaves and serve
