Serves 2

  • Raw/Green Jack fruit,cut into dice 2 cups

  • Green chili 2 nos

  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

  • Poppy Seed Paste 1/2 cups

  • Mustard Paste 2 tsp

  • Mustard Oil 1 tbsp

  • Sugar 1/2 tsp

  • Bay Leaf 1 nos

  • Lime Juice 1 tsp

  • Salt 1 tsp

    Cut the raw or green jackfruit into dice shaped pieces. Put them in a pressure cooker (with 2 cups of water) for2 to 3 whistles. Do not forget to add little salt while boiling them.

    Once the pressure is released, drain the water and allow them to cool.

    Now take a round shape tiffin box which perfectly goes inside your pressure cooker and you can close the lid of the cooker.

    In a bowl take poppy seed paste, mustard paste,  turmeric powder, sugar & salt and mix them well. Add 1 tablespoon water into the mixture.

    Place the boiled jackfruit pieces into the tiffin box and pour the prepared mixture into the box.

    Add green chilli, bay leaf, lime juice and mustard oil from top and close the lid of the box.

    Now take water in your pressure cooker and place the tiffin box inside it. Tiffin box should not float completely submerged.

    Wait for 2-3 whistles and do not force release the pressure.

    Take out the tiffin box carefully and serve lovely steamed jackfruit in poppy seed gravy with plain rice.
