Ingredients

Serves : 10
  • 1 1/2 cups maida (all purpose flour)


  • 1 tsp baking powder


  • Baking powder 1/4 tsp


  • 3/4 cups powdered sugar


  • 100 gms butter


  • 3 nos large eggs


  • 150 ml fresh orange juice/ tetra pack one.


  • 1 tsp orange essence


  • 1 tsp orange rind


  • 1/4 cups tuti fruti

Directions

  • Pre heat oven at 200℃ for 12-15 minutes
  • Grease a 8 inch square mould with some butter
  • Sift the flour, baking powder and baking soda. Keep aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar for 1 minute until its fluffy
  • Now add one egg at a time and continue whisking.
  • Further add orange essence. Add orange rind and mix lightly with a spatula
  • Now alternatively add flour and orange juice in 3 parts and fold gently to get a lump free batter.
  • Also add tuti fruti, keeping aside some to sprinkle at the top.
  • Pour this batter in the greased cake tin and tap the tin gently twice to remove excess air bubbles
  • Bake this at 180℃ for 30 minutes
  • Different oven might take different time, so kindly go by your judgement of baking
  • When done, check by inserting a toothpick at the centre. If it comes out clean, the cake is done.
  • Let this cool completely and then demould. Cut in slices and serve with black tea or coffee
