Heat a kadhai with ghee/refined oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and chopped green chillies. Then add the ginger garlic paste, saute for some time. Add the asfoetida.
Then add the chopped tomatoes and salt. Stir and cook on a low flame for few minutes.
Then add the powdered masalas and give it a stir. Cook till the masala leaves oil and then add the boiled dal.
Mix and add water. Let the dal boil, check for seasoning and serve.
