Ingredients

Serves : 10
  • 1 1/2 cups maize flour


  • 3/4 cups gram flour


  • 1 tsp salt


  • 1 tsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric


  • 1 tsp carom seeds


  • 1 tsp cumin seeds


  • 1/4 cups curry leaves torn into small pieces


  • 2 cups oil


  • 3/4 cups water to knead a stiff dough

Directions

  • First of all gather all the required ingredients.
  • Next add all the other ingredients to the mixing bowl.
  • Now add in the flours with oil and curry leaves and knead into a smooth but stiff dough with water as required.
  • Take a handful of this mix and press into a chakli maker and start making them as we do for murukku.
  • Fry on medium flame in hot oil.
  • Fry in batches until the dough is used up fully.
  • Serve them right away or store in airtight containers for later use after they come down to the room temperature.
  • They become crispier as they cool down and can be relished upto 20 days or more.
