Ingredients

Serves : 5
  • 2 cups govindabhog rice or any aromatic rice


  • 1 1/2 cups mung dal / yellow mug dal


  • 1/2 cups green peas


  • 2 nos bay leaves


  • 2 nos dry red chilli


  • 1/2 inch cinnamon stick


  • 4-5 nos cloves


  • 3 nos green cardamom


  • 2 tbsp ghee / clarified butter


  • 1 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1 tsp cumin powder


  • 1 tsp red chili powder


  • 2-3 tsp salt


  • 3-4 tsp sugar

Directions

  • Wash rice properly tgen soak in water for 1 hr
  • Heat a pressure cooker and dry roast mug dal till light brown n fragrant
  • Now heat 1 tbsp oil and 1 tbsp mustard oil in a pressure cooker..add cumin seeds , bay leaves and whole spice
  • once you get nice aroma add soaked rice and roasted mung dal ..stir continuously for 1-2 minutes..
  • Then add ginger paste , green chili and all dry spices (except garammasala) salt to taste and sugar ....give a good stir to mix well everything..stir it for 2-3 minutes..
  • Then add 5-6 cups of water ..give a nice stir. Then close the lid of cooker and wait for 1 whistle then turn off gas
  • Open lid and add garam masala and green peas....mix well everything...check seasoning.. keep as per your desire consistency..
  • Offer Bhoger khichuri to the god and goddes then serve khichuri with dollop of ghee
