Ingredients

Serves 6

  • all purpose flour 1 cups

  • oil or ghee 2 tbsp

  • salt or as per taste 1/2 tsp

  • carom seeds 1/4 tsp

  • water as required 1/3 cups

  • black sesame seeds/kalonji 1 tsp

  • oil for frying 3-4 cups

Directions

    take flour in a mixing bowl

  • 02

    add ghee, salt, carom seeds and mix well

  • 03

    add water little by little and make a stiff dough

  • 04

    cover and keep aside for 30 minutes

  • 05

    now divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portion into a smooth ball

  • 06

    roll each ball into a little thick disc

  • 07

    take a cookie cutter and cut it into circles

  • 08

    now make 8 cut impressions and for the petal shape gather and twist the portion at the edge

  • 09

    apply water in the center and sprinkle kalonji and press it

  • 10

    make all the mathris in the same way

  • 11

    prick the mathris with a toothpick

  • 12

    heat oil in a pan

  • 13

    when it becomes hot, lower the flame to medium

  • 14

    gently slide in the mathris and fry both sides on medium flame till crispy

  • 15

    once done, drain and remove on absorbent paper
