Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 1 cups kadala


  • 1 nos onion


  • 1 nos tomato


  • 1/2 tsp chili powder


  • 1 sprig curry leaves


  • 1 tbsp oil


  • 2 nos green chilies


  • 3/4 tbsp coriander powder


  • 1/4 tsp udupi ruchi garam masala powder


  • 1 cups coconut milk


  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1 pinch salt


  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds


  • 2 nos clove


  • 1 nos cinnamon


  • 4 nos shallots


  • 3 tbsp coconut


  • 6 nos pepper corns

Directions

  • Soak kadala in 2 1/2 cups water and 1/2 tsp salt for 8 hours
  • Take a pressure cooker and add in the sliced onions, the ground masala, soaked and drained kadala, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and a cup of water
  • And cook for 30 minutes
  • Grind the tomatoes, garlic, ginger, cloves, fennel seeds and cardamom to a smooth paste,Set aside
  • Take a pan and saute fresh coconut in a teaspoon of oil for few minutes
  • Grind the fresh roasted coconut with half a cup of water to a fine paste
  • Add it to the curry
  • Simmer the curry for a couple of minutes
  • Remove from heat
  • Heat coconut oil in a pan and add in the mustard seeds, curry leaves and dried red chillies
  • Let the mustard seeds pop
  • Add it to the curry
  • Kadala curry is ready
