  • 1/2 cups unakkalari /payasam rice or njavara ari(red raw rice)

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds

  • 1 tsp chada kuppa

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp asaali

  • 4-5 cups water

  • 3 tbsp grated coconut


  • Soak everything for 20 minutes except coconut and turmeric powder
  • Soak kakkum kaya for 7-8 hours
  • Wash everything well
  • Grind fennel seeds ,mustard seeds, cumin seeds ,Chadu kuppa ,coconut,turmeric powder and kakkum kaya by adding water to fine paste
  • Soak and wash the rice and cook by adding water for one whistle in medium heat
  • When the rice is cooked well add the ground paste and mix well
  • boil for 10 minutes and off the flame
  • Finally sprinkle some asaali and serve mild hot so the tasty d healthy karkkidaka kanji is ready
