  • 2 nos karimeen/ pearl spot

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp red chilli powder

  • 1/2 tsp kashmiri chilly powder

  • 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste

  • 1/2 tsp fennel powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 sprig curry leaves

  • 2 tbsp oil – for frying


  • Clean the fish with cold water along with lime and salt, pat dry and place on a plate
  • Make deep slits on the body of the fish, on both sides
  • Take all the spice powders along with salt and add the ginger-garlic paste and form a thick paste, if required you can add few drops of lime juice
  • Apply on the fish and leave it for minimum 1 hour
  • Heat pan with oil and add curry leaves fry for a minute, then place the fish and let it cook on each side for 6-7 minutes such that the fish is fully cooked
  • Serve hot with rice and curry
