Ingredients

Serves 5

  • Tomatoes chopped-3(medium sized)

  • Big onion finely chopped - 1(medium sized)

  • Shallots (small onions)peeled and sliced - 100g

  • Red chillies round (preferrably gundu milagai) - 10-15

  • Tamarind paste - 1 tsp

  • Curry leaves-2 sprig

  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp

  • Urad dal - 1 tsp

  • oil 1/2 tsp

  • salt 1 pinch to taste

Directions

  • 01

    Grind tomato, onions,shallots, tamarind, red chilies and salt to a fine paste

  • 02

    Add oil in a kadai, when its hot splutter mustard seeds, urad dal ,curry leaves and finally the tomato mixture and stir well

  • 03

    Saute it till the paste is cooked and the mixture thickens

  • 04

    Serve hot with idlis,dosais etc
