Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 1 cups mint leaves


  • 3 nos shallots


  • 1 tbsp fried gram


  • 1 nos tamarid


  • 1 pinch turmeric powder


  • 1 pinch salt


  • 4 nos garlic


  • 3 nos green chilli


  • 3 tbsp grated coconut


  • 1 nos to temper: red chilies


  • 1 pinch hing


  • 1 tsp mustard seeds


  • 1/2 tsp urad dal


  • 1 sprig curry leaves


  • 2 tsp oil

Directions

  • Heat little oil in a pan, add shallots, garlic, green chilli and saute for a while
  • Add urad dal and fry till golden brown
  • Pluck the mint leaves from the stem, wash it thoroughly for 3 times and drain the water
  • Then add mint leaves and saute till it shrinks just a little but be sure not to change the colour
  • Switch off flame, add grated coconut and give a quick stir
  • In a mixer,add tamarind piece, turmeric powder, salt and grind it
  • Pour water little by little and grind it to a smooth or coarse texture as preferred
  • Transfer it into a bowl
