Ingredients

Serves 4

  • Mint Leaves 1 cups

  • Shallots 3 nos

  • Fried gram 1 tbsp

  • Tamarid 1 nos

  • turmeric powder 1 pinch

  • salt 1 pinch

  • garlic 4 nos

  • green chilli 3 nos

  • Grated coconut 3 tbsp

  • To temper: Red chilies 1 nos

  • Hing 1 pinch

  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp

  • Urad dal 1/2 tsp

  • Curry leaves 1 sprig

  • Oil 2 tsp

Directions

    Heat little oil in a pan, add shallots, garlic, green chilli and saute for a while

  • 02

    Add urad dal and fry till golden brown

  • 03

    Pluck the mint leaves from the stem, wash it thoroughly for 3 times and drain the water

  • 04

    Then add mint leaves and saute till it shrinks just a little but be sure not to change the colour

    Switch off flame, add grated coconut and give a quick stir

  • 06

    In a mixer,add tamarind piece, turmeric powder, salt and grind it

  • 07

    Pour water little by little and grind it to a smooth or coarse texture as preferred

  • 08

    Transfer it into a bowl
