Ingredients

Serves : 5
  • 1/2 cups parippu


  • 1 cups cheera/ spinach


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1 nos onion


  • 1/2 cups scraped coconut


  • 2 nos green chilly


  • 1 sprig curry leaves

Directions

  • Soak the cheera in water with little salt for some time and rinse and drain
  • Take parippu and cook in a pan with just enough water and cover and cook on slow fire
  • Chop the onions finely into squares, cut the chillies round
  • Heat another pan, pour oil and pop mustards, then add the chopped onion, green chillies and curry leaves
  • Once they are limp, add turmeric powder and then the scraped coconut
  • Chop the spinach finely and keep aside
  • Fry the coconut for a few minutes till they are slightly dry
  • Add salt, mix well and then add the chopped cheera/ Spinach
  • Stir fry on high flame for one full minute or more till you can see the leaves curl up
  • Add the cooked parippu and mix well
  • Cheera and Parippu thoran is ready
