Kerala Spicy Chicken Fry

  • 1 kgs chicken pieces

  • 4 tsp chilli powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 1/2 tsp chicken masala powder

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • 2 tsp coriander powder

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  • 4 sprig curry leaves

  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

  • 1 nos onion sliced

  • 1/4 cups coconut oil


  • First cut and clean the chicken pieces and keep it aside
  • In a bowl, mix together all the ingredients except the coconut oil and onion slices
  • Marinate the chicken pieces with the above mixture
  • Add 2 tsp of oil
  • Keep it aside for 30 min
  • Switch on the stove and place pressure cooker
  • Cook the chicken pieces in cooker,don t forget remove the cooker whistles the steam will be out through nozzle
  • After 2 min take it out from flame
  • Left over water can be used for making chicken soup, drain it well
  • In a fry pan add oil,When oil become hot, add the curry leaves and fry for 1 min
  • Add chicken pieces to the oil and shallow fry it
  • When one side of chicken becomes crisp and brown, turn on other sides and fry well
  • Add the sliced onion and saute well
  • When cooked take it out to kitchen tissue
  • Repeat the process with remaining pieces
  • Serve Hot
