Ingredients

Serves 4

  • Sweet Corn Kernels (steamed or canned) 300 gms

  • Onion finely chopped 1 nos

  • Garlic finely chopped 1 tsp

  • Curry leaves 5-6 nos

  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp

  • turmeric powder 1/4 tsp

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp

  • Asafoetida powder 1 pinch

  • Salt 1 pinch

  • Butter or oil 1 tbsp

  • To roast and grind:Channa dal/Bengal gram split 2 tbsp

  • Black pepper corns 10 nos

  • Par boiled rice (puzhungalari) 2 tbsp

  • Dried red chilli 1 nos

  • Curry leaves 4-5 nos

Directions

    Heat a pan and dray roast all the ingredients mentioned in To roast and grind- till golden brown/crisp and grind to a coarse powder

    Keep aside

    Heat Butter/oil in a pan

  • 04

    Add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter

  • 05

    Add asafoetida powder, chopped garlic and curry leaves

  • 06

    Fry for few seconds

  • 07

    Add chopped onions and fry till golden brown

  • 08

    Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and sauté till the raw smell disappears

  • 09

    Add sweet corn kernels and stir fry for few minutes

  • 10

    Add grounded spice powder, stir well and cook for 2 minutes

  • 11

    Remove from the heat

  • 12

    Serve hot
