Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 300 gms sweet corn kernels (steamed or canned)


  • 1 nos onion finely chopped


  • 1 tsp garlic finely chopped


  • 5-6 nos curry leaves


  • 1 tsp mustard seeds


  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder


  • 1 pinch asafoetida powder


  • 1 pinch salt


  • 1 tbsp butter or oil


  • 2 tbsp to roast and grind:channa dal/bengal gram split


  • 10 nos black pepper corns


  • 2 tbsp par boiled rice (puzhungalari)


  • 1 nos dried red chilli


  • 4-5 nos curry leaves

Directions

  • Heat a pan and dray roast all the ingredients mentioned in To roast and grind- till golden brown/crisp and grind to a coarse powder
  • Keep aside
  • Heat Butter/oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter
  • Add asafoetida powder, chopped garlic and curry leaves
  • Fry for few seconds
  • Add chopped onions and fry till golden brown
  • Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and sauté till the raw smell disappears
  • Add sweet corn kernels and stir fry for few minutes
  • Add grounded spice powder, stir well and cook for 2 minutes
  • Remove from the heat
  • Serve hot
