Ingredients

Serves 2

  • Broken Wheat 1/2 cups

  • Jaggery 1/2 cups

  • Milk 1 cups

  • Thick Coconut Milk 1/3 cups

  • Ghee 2 tsp

  • Water 2 cups

  • Cardamom powder 1/4 tsp

  • Coconut pieces 1 tbsp

  • Cashews 4 nos

Directions

    Measure broken wheat, take a pressure cooker heat ghee and add broken wheat and roast for 3-5 mins

  • 02

    Add 2 cups of water and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles in low medium flame

  • 03

    Once pressure releases fluff it up and set aside

  • 04

    Heat jaggery syrup, add cooked broken wheat and let it simmer

  • 05

    First it will look seperated

  • 06

    Slowly it will mush up and blend well with jaggery syrup

  • 07

    Keep the flame in lowest flame possible and add milk

  • 08

    Keep stirring

    Let it cook for another 8-10mins in low flame

  • 10

    Finally add coconut milk, ghee when it starts to boil switch off immediately

    In a tadka pan add coconut pieces and fry till golden brown

  • 12

    Then fry cashews till golden and add both fried coconut and cashews to the payasam and mix well

  • 13

    Serve hot / warm
