Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 1 cups kolam rice


  • 1 litre full fat milk


  • 1/2 cups water


  • 2/3 cups sugar


  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder


  • 2 tbsp ghee


  • 8-10 nos cashew nuts

Directions

  • wash and soak the rice for 10 minutes. Later drain the water and keep aside.
  • Boil the milk and reduce the quantity to approximately 700 ml.
  • Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pressure cooker and roast the cashew nuts. Take them out and keep aside.
  • Now add the remaining ghee in pressure cooker and
  • Next add the reduced milk slowly into the rice and mix well.
  • Once the milk starts boiling close the lid and allow one or two whistles.
  • After the pressure releases, switch on the gas.
  • Now add sugar, cardamon powder and water. Mix them well and cook under low flame for 10 minutes.
  • Switch off the gas and garnish with roasted cashew nuts.
  • Allow to cool the paal payasam and serve it.
