Ingredients

  • FOR KADHI: Masoor daal soaked 2 hrs n make a fine paste 1/4 cups

  • Ginger - garlic paste 1 tbsp

  • turmeric powder 1 tsp

  • Chilly powder 1/2 tsp

  • Coriander powder 1 tbsp

  • Sour curd 1 cups

  • Salt - to taste 1 pinch

  • FOR BADI: Masoor daal -soaked 2 hrs & grind in thick paste 1/2 cups

  • Onion finely chopped 1 nos

  • Coriander powder 1/2 tsp

  • turmeric powder 1/4 tsp

  • Chilly powder 1 tbsp

  • Anseed seeds 1/2 tsp

  • Coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tsp

  • Baking soda 2 pinch

  • Salt - to taste 1 pinch

  • Mustard oil for deep frying 200 ml

  • FOR TEMPERING:Onion - finely chopped 1 nos

  • Garlic cloves finely chopped 5 nos

  • Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp

  • Curry leaves 1 sprig

  • Hing 1/2 tsp

  • Kashmiri chilly powder 1/4 tsp

  • Coriander leaves chopped 1 tsp

  • Mustard oil 3 tbsp

    Take a deep thick botton pot and except curd mix all ingredients as ginger - garlic paste, coriander powder, turmeric powder, chilly powder and salt together with help of little water

    Add 1

    5 liter water in this mixture and start cooking on low heat

    Stir well continuously to save from burning

  • 05

    It will take 15 minutes to thicken

    In-between mix curd in liquidizer to break its lumps

    Now add this curd in cooked kadhi and stir continues until​ it mix well

    FOR BADI-Heat oil in a heavy bottom kadhai on medium heat

  • 09

    Take a large bowl and mix all ingredients as masoor daal paste, all dry spices, chopped onion, coriander leaves, salt and baking soda together

    Drop small portion of badi mixture in hot oil with help of spoon

  • 11

    Fry both sides till golden brown,Repeat process till mixture finish

  • 12

    Drop this badi in hot kadhi and cook for another 10 minutes

    Switch off the gas stove

  • 14

    Take out oil from kadhai

  • 15

    Heat 3 tbsp oil in kadhai on medium heat

  • 16

    Crack cumin seeds and red chilli,Now add chopped garlic cloves, onion, hing and curry leaves in oil

    Fry onion till light brown colour

    Add kashmiri chilly powder in fry onion,Switch off gas stove

  • 19

    Add this tempering masala in kadhi - badi and mix very gently

  • 20

    Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves in it

  • 21

    Serve hot kadhi - badi with plain boiled rice and chatpati as per your taste buds
