Wash lentils (masoor dal) properly with running water
Put lentil, turmeric powder, salt and 1 1/4 cup water in pressure cooker
Cook it till two whistles
Cool it down naturally
Heat a heavy bottom kadai on high flame
Add oil and ghee together in kadai
Reduce heat on medium flame
Crack cumin seeds and dry chilly for 30 seconds
Now add garlic, onion and ginger one by one in oil
Fry till onion changes in pink colour
Now add tomato, chilly powder and cook for 2 minutes
Then add chopped saag , 2 pinch of salt and cook for 5 -7 minutes with lid on low flame
Now add cooked dal, garam masala and stir very well
Cook it for 2 minutes
Little hot water can be added at this point as your preference because it becomes thick very soon
After adding water boil for another 2 min
Serve this healthy and flavourful dal with hot chapati or steamed rice
More ghee or lemon juice can be added for extra flavour
