Ingredients

Serves 8

  • 1 1⁄2 cups butter, softened

  • 2cups sugar

  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten

  • 1⁄2 cup molasses

  • 4cups all-purpose flour

  • 2teaspoons baking soda

  • 1teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 3⁄4 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1⁄2 teaspoon ground cloves

  • 1⁄2 teaspoon salt

  • 3tablespoons butter, softened

  • 1 1⁄2 cups confectioners' sugar

  • 1tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 1 -2tablespoon milk

Directions

    In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.

    Add eggs, and molasses and mix thoroughly.

    Combine dry ingredients and gradually add to creamed mixture.

    Shape into 1-inch balls.

    Place on ungreased baking sheets (do not flatten) Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes or until done (centers will be slightly soft) In a small mixing bowl beat butter, confectioners' sugar and vanilla and enough milk until creamy.

    Frost cookies while warm.
