Description
Special dish which is made during the Tamil festival of pongal. However, it's quite filling and can be enjoyed otherwise too.

Ingredients
Serves 3 serving
Rice1 Cup
Green Gram½ Cup
Milk1 Cup
Jaggery3 Cups
Ghee4 Tablespoons
Cashewnuts2 Tablespoons
Raisins2 Tablespoons
Cardamom (powdered) 5
Cloves (powdered) 2
Cinnamon (powdered) 1/2 Teaspoon
Nutmeg(powdered) 1
Water2 1/2 Cups
Directions
Cook rice and green gram in milk and water.
In a saucepan, put jaggery and pour the water. Heat it and let the jaggery melt in the water.
If there are any impurities, remove them and continue heating the jaggery syrup. Heat it till it's a little sticky.
Add the cooked rice and dal to jaggery. Add the powdered cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Mix all thoroughly.
Heat the ghee and fry the cashews and raisins in it. Add it to the pongal.
Switch off the heat and serve the sweet pongal hot or cold.
